Pocono residency
The Residency is a cornerstone of our K to 6th Grade program, offering students immersive overnight trips to a country house in the Pocono Mountains. This unique experience is designed to cultivate independence, community, and eco-entrepreneurial thinking. Students engage in collaborative, hands-on activities that build essential life skills in a natural setting.
Beyond practical skills, the residency builds character. Through shared meals, hikes, and campfire conversations, students develop a strong sense of belonging, respect, and inclusive teamwork. This experience directly reinforces the values of our classroom community.
The natural setting serves as a dynamic extension of the classroom, sparking curiosity and providing authentic contexts for science, ecology, and social studies. Students return with broadened perspectives, a deeper understanding of sustainability, and enhanced confidence and leadership skills. After three years of program improvements, it has become the heart of our curriculum, beloved by all students.
- Farm Management & Sustainability: Daily responsibilities include tending to animals (chickens, fish), harvesting produce, and exploring sustainable practices.
- Eco-Entrepreneurship: Students brainstorm innovative solutions for ethical production, connecting their actions to broader environmental systems.
- Teamwork & Project Management: Before and during the trip, students collaborate on budgeting, meal planning, scheduling, and delegating tasks, fostering practical problem-solving.
